Metal products and machines

Knowingly and unknowingly, in our daily life and work we use so many things that have metal products. In simple words, metal products are used in various many applications that we use on daily basis. Metal stamping machine functions making metal products. To shape metal products in perfect measurement and parameters a procedure is followed that starts with insertion of a metal sheet into the metal stamping machine that moulds it in required exact shape. Forming wire, blanking and deep drawing etc are other functions that the machine performs. Springs are one type of metal product which is a mechanical device that store and then release energy to maintain a force between contacting surfaces. Springs, elastic material in helix shape returns to the natural length when unloaded, are used for various purposes such as in vehicles. To remove coil springs from vehicle’s suspension, a process consist pair of spreadable jaws mounted on a through bolt. By inserting tool inside springs jaws are spread to engage the coil. Bolt is turned to compress the spring. This process can be reversed until it is unloaded safely. Also, there are different types of machines available used for different works and purposes. Four slide parts is multi side metal stamping machine type which is used for horizontal die applications for multiple directions. This type of metalworking machine tool is used when there is a need of high volume manufacturing for small stamp components from strip to wire stock.

All about Fourslide parts

Metal stamping is a process of shaping and cutting metal alloys into specific patterns and forms, especially used to create parts for heavy machineries and structures. Large metal sheets can be easily molded into specific and predetermined shapes. Though there are various alloys that can be used in metal stamping process but some of the majorly used names include: nickel, zinc, aluminum, titanium and many more. This process is very affordable and cost-effective way to produce several types of metal products on large scale.

In general, there are five techniques that are used for metal stamping namely: multislide and fourslide stamping, wireforming, deep drawing and fine blanking. Fourslide stamping technique is most preferred way of stamping. The major advantage of this technique or machine tool is that very economically you can generate specific metal shapes from scratch to finish. With fourslide technique you can easily accomplish complex tasks and that too within very short span of time and at a very huge production rate. On an average it can produce almost 1000 to 4000 quality and precisely finished parts in an hour.  Amongst these all, the method to identify fourslide parts is very simple, if your formed part or metal stamping has width of less than 2’’ and thickness is somewhere around .075” then definitely it is a fourslide part. The various parts that fall in this category include: flat springs, contacts, connectors and terminals, metal clips, metal stampings, rings, sleeves, bushings, wire forms and various other hardware structures and secondary assemblies and operations products etc.

Replacing coil springs of your vehicle

There are a multitude of applications for a used coil springs suspension system. The majority of front-wheel-drive vehicles are built with coil springs which are assembled to the strut basically coiling around it. Larger and much heavier duty automobiles place the coils between the chassis and the frame and feature shocks as a completely separate suspension element.

In another popular segment of the aftermarket parts market are coil over shocks and fourslide parts. Similar to a strut, the coil wraps around the entire shock but it doesn’t usually bolt to the steering knuckle like a strut does. You need to change shocks and struts much more frequently than a regular set of used coil springs, but make sure to thoroughly check the used springs when you decide to replace any suspension components.

Learning the proper techniques on replacing coil springs on your vehicle is not as difficult as one may come to believe. Our simple guide on how to replace coil springs can be performed in the comfort of your own home garage, alleyway or side street. Replacing coil springs is usually required simply because the current existing springs are beginning to show signs of wear and tear and need to be changed to restore its original handling and ride height. However, there are also many situations an owner decided to install aftermarket coil over springs.
